If you’re tired of the same old YouTube video workouts or if slogging it at the gym is seriously beginning to lose its appeal, then it’s time you downloaded a fitness guide. Not only do they keep things fun and fresh, but they are one of the most effective ways to get into shape, fast. You can do them wherever you are, be it at home, on holiday, or in the gym, and most of the workouts will take up only half an hour of your day.
We’ve done the hard work for you (don’t worry, it will be your turn when you start following one of them) by rounding up the top four fitness guides you can download right now.
Bikini Body Guide
by Kayla Itsines
All you need to do is search for the hashtag #bbg (which stands for “bikini body guide”) on Instagram and you’ll soon see why Kayla Itsines has become a household name in the world of fitness. She’s got more followers than celeb favorite Tracy Anderson, and she boasts Jessica Alba and Candice Swanepoel as two of her (millions of) loyal followers.
Having started as a personal trainer, Itsines noticed she was always hearing the same wishes and complaints from her clients, so she decided to take matters into her own hands and create an effective and realistic workout for anyone and everyone. Her ‘Bikini Body Guide’ is a 12-week program designed to help you tone up and lose fat. All you need is 28 minutes every other day (you’ll be required to walk on rest days) as her method is all about HIIT (high intensity interval training). You’ll use equipment such as dumbbells, a skipping rope, and a weighted ball, and every week the moves get harder. You’re encouraged to take progress pics and post them as you go in order to avoid a reliance on the scales (amen) and there’s also a food plan to complement your workout if you’re looking for some guidance.
While critics have attacked her for advocating that there is such a thing as a bikini body that women should strive for, the fact of the matter is that her workouts are quick and effective whether you’re looking to simply add some movement in your life or are working towards a more specific goal.
Her Body By Gilles
by Gilles Souteyrand
Ever wondered how Tash Oakley and Devin Brugman stay in such amazing shape? Wonder no more, because their secret is this man – Gilles Souteyrand. A former international model and a qualified Level 3 PT, he not only understands the importance of a healthy, strong body but also of one that’s achieved realistically, wherever you are in the world. We particularly love that it’s all about embracing your natural, womanly shape and working with that and not about encouraging rapid weight loss or an unhealthy female physique. #Word.
Souteyrand’s 12-week fitness program allows you one rest day per week and two LISS (Low Intensity Steady State Cardio) days during which you’re encouraged to go for a long walk, a jog, a swim, or a bike ride. On the other five days, you’ll be doing everything from an HIIT and abs circuit to booty and legs or abs and arms. The workouts are 28 minutes long and have been designed so that you can do them at home, on the beach, or even when you’re on vacation. All you need are some dumbbells and you’re good to go.
On days when you’re seriously lacking motivation, all you need to do is pay a visit to Oakley’s Instagram account or to the #herbodybygilles hashtag to see her working her moves, and we guarantee you’ll be on that mat in minutes.
Fresh Body Fit Mind
by Amanda Bisk
A former professional pole vaulter, Australian fitness influencer Amanda Bisk is passionate about passing the fitness bug on to other women around the world, which led to the creation of her ‘Fresh Body Fit Mind’ guide. An easy-to-follow 12-week program, it doesn’t require any additional equipment and just a two-by-two meter space to work out in.
Each workout is 20 minutes long and promises a full-body blast, making it the perfect way to squeeze in a sweat session before work or even during your lunch break. Days alternate between HIIT circuits, “move sessions” (20 minutes of power walking or jogging/running if you feel up to it), and “test” days so you can track your progress. She also has an amazing stretching guide to help with muscle recovery and flexibility (her Instagram account is full of super bendy snaps) and includes tips and motivation every step of the way.
by Tone It Up
Don’t let their pretty smiley faces or their cute workout outfits fool you, because Tone It Up’s trainers, Karena and Katrina, make for one seriously powerful pair. A match made in heaven (Karena was a fitness model and triathlete and Katrina studied Health Science), the two met and instantly knew that their shared passions could change lives. They opened up a fitness studio within a year and the rest is history. Now, they get over 30 million views on their YouTube videos and boast one of the best-selling fitness guides available.
Their Tone It Up ‘Premium Workouts’ guide is an eight-week plan that incorporates four exclusive routines, including ‘Booty & Abs’ and ‘Tone, Burn & Flow’, as well as four more targeted workouts that you can do anywhere. They also have an optional nutrition plan to follow alongside your workouts, and they share healthy recipes to keep your food on track. They’re like the best fitness friends you never had.
