Now temperatures have dropped and the breeze has picked up, running season is back with a bang, so it’s time to get your sneakers on and head outdoors with this guide to Dubai’s top running routes and tracks. Goodness spoke to Tom Woolf, Nike’s Head Running Coach in the Middle East, to find out his top picks for where to get your sprint on around the city. Whether you’re a regular runner or your sneakers are yet to see the light of day, there’s a route for you – so what are you waiting for? Just do it.
Accessed from the Trade Center roundabout and with plenty of parking, Zabeel Park offers an awesome cushioned running track positioned on its outer perimeter, which is two kilometers in distance. There is no charge to run on this track and it’s open 24/7.
Overlooking the beautiful bay and restaurants of the Marina, this eight-kilometer track is a challenging, but enjoyable one. Bustling with activity, the route keeps you entertained and rearing to go, with passersby cheering you on.
Starting from the Dubai Marine Beach Resort and continuing up to the Burj Al Arab, this 14-kilometer track includes a four-meter-wide jogging path and a five-meter walkway, making it ideal for running enthusiasts. Resting areas and spaces to practice yoga, swim, and participate in water-sport activities help create a fun and fit ambiance. It’s one of the greatest running locations in Dubai, offering the chance to run on a great surface, which is never very busy, alongside the ocean. Perfection.
The Beach, JBR
The Beach at JBR is great for runners who prefer a soft running track. Approximately two kilometers in length, the track also has training machines along the way if you feel the need to break up your run with some other exercises.
One of Dubai’s oldest and most popular running tracks, Creekside Park is approximately four kilometers long. Open from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily, and on Wednesdays for ladies and children only, this park has a very scenic and calm atmosphere for all runners to enjoy.
With a running track that’s approximately 3.5-kilometers long, The Greens provides a great place to go for a recreational run. The track wraps around the beautiful lakes and is populated by runners, walkers, and residents, and parking is available along the streets.
With a breathtaking view of the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Fountains, Burj Park is the most picturesque track on this list. Stretching over a five-kilometer loop around Downtown Dubai, it’s the perfect track to enjoy an evening jog or run with a friend or loved one.
Al Barsha Pond Park
Featuring a soft running track approximately 1.4-kilometers long, marked every 100 meters, the Al Barsha Pond Park is great for doing both distance runs and sprints. The park is open daily until 10 p.m. with no entry fee.
